In Pod We Trust

Just like ham radio in the 1930s, podcasting is a technology that lets everyone be their own radio star. Individuals across the country have gotten microphones, downloaded free sound editing software, and put together a show for anyone to hear — or at least anyone with web access. Obviously the skill and intelligence of each podcast differs wildly. Some just want to have fun. Others use the new technology to extend existing media, be it print or radio.

In our three part series on podcasts, we look at a range of podcasts, from highly subsidized commercial ventures to DIY labors of love. Part One looks at radio shows that podcast their weekly episodes, as well as looks forward to the next generation, video podcasts. Part Two looks at those podcasts dedicated to talking above movies, be it reviewing current releases or remembering classic films. Part Three considers those podcasts that speak to the filmmaking experience.
